Happy Birthday for AR Rahman

Allah Rakha Rahman an Indian film composer, record producer, musician and singer. Today is his birthday and Danny Boyle is intended to meet him. When he came calling to India, a few of the superstars reportedly didn’t realise the worth of the script he was carrying. But musician AR Rahman produced one of his best music scores for Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionnaire.

On AR Rahman’s birthday today, Danny admits that he still can’t get over the simplicty of the musical genius. “Rahman is something of a genius. But he’s also very simple and I love that quality about him,” gushes Danny.

The director who has teamed up with him again for another action movie says that Rahman is not afraid of calling a spade a spade despite his down-to-earth nature. “He’s straightforward despite his almost extraordinary, supernatural fame! I feel extremely lucky to have worked with him twice,” he adds. Talking about Rahman’s work in his next film, Danny says Rahman has excelled again. “He’s done a brilliant job for 127 Hours — he’s simply extraordinary!”

Sources say that Dannyand his daughter Caitlin (who works for the underprivileged kids in Mumbai) plans to call Rahman and wish him today.

“Danny wanted to meet him on his birthday, but since Rahman is in London and will be leaving for LA soon (to work on the release of an international music album), he will be calling him to wish him. Sources also add that Danny says that he can’t forget what the mountain climber Aron Ralston, on whom the film is based, had to say to him. “If only I had your soundtrack in the Canyon, I could’ve lasted another 127 hours,” he said, referring to Rahman’s score.

Apparently Rahman was in London yesterday for the release of the soundtrack of the film.
