Abhishek plays a bold-spirited cop in 'Dum Maro Dum'

Abhishek got himself an uphill task in ‘Dum Maro Dum’, as his character in the film is a bold-spirited cop, which is believed to be quite similar to the character that his dad played in 1970’s super hit film ‘Zanjeer’. Speaking about Abhishek’s character, sources stated, “Abhishek's role in Dum Maaro Dum of a cop on a drug-busting mission in Goa has distinct shades of his dad's career-turning role as a cop settling scores in Zanjeer."

Fox Star Studios and producer Ramesh Sippy have shifted the release date of their film, the Abhishek and Bipasha starrer 'Dum Maro Dum' from the first week of February to April 22, 2011. The makers of 'Dum Maro Dum' were supposed to release the film in the first week of February, but postponed it to April after they felt that it could turn out to be bad time to release the film, as it coincides with school examination time.

Talking about the film at a press conference, the Chief Executive Officer of Fox Star Studios, Vijay Singh stated, "We are in the midst of researching for the film amongst various target groups and are excited with the response that we are getting. It has a great script, it's vibrant and contemporary, and we expect the film to appeal to the multiplex and single screen audiences."

It’s learnt that Fox Studios has pushed the release date of the film to next year keeping in mind the fact that the film will have a good run on its opening day in India and abroad, if it’s released during the Easter weekend.

"Since Easter is a big holiday weekend, it will provide a great release window in India and across international markets," further added Mr. Singh.

Although the release date has been scheduled next year, the makers of ‘Dum Maro Dum’ are however rushing to complete the film by end of this month. Meanwhile, the producer Ramesh Sippy has informed that this scrumptious treat for audiences has come out well with its gripping story-line, visual appeal and its complimenting music by Pritam and lyrics by Jaideep Sahni.
